Excellence and Equity

The papers we have been reading are challenging my thoughts about the E&E agenda.

I completely agree with the need to pursue both excellence and equity, that is not in doubt. However, the political influence that is driving Scotland’s E&E agenda is worth critiquing.

Why does the government want to pursue excellence? Is it because it wants the best for our children or is it because our recent PISA scores were disappointing?

Why are schools challenged with addressing the inequity gap? Because we are best placed to do so or because we are easy to blame if the problem isn’t resolved?
